Malaysian coach Tan Kim Her set to try out new combinations for European tourneys
Malaysia’s national head coach Tan Kim Her is not afraid of experimenting with his doubles teams as he makes new pairs and breaks the old ones for upcoming series of European badminton events.
The World Number 33 duo Lim Khim Wah - Goh V Shem, who paired up for the Thomas Cup preliminaries, is going to be split despite of its stunning performance against the country like South Korea.
Kim Her said, “The reason why V Shem-Khim Wah will not be fielded as a pair for the next two tournaments is because I submitted the list of players even before the Thomas Cup qualifying tournament. I did not expect them to play so well. So, if the V Shem-Kok
Siang combination does not work out, I will resume the V Shem-Khim Wah partnership after the All-England.”
Lim Khim Wah will match up Ong Jian Guo in the German Open while V Shem is going to make bond with his ex-partner Teo Kok Siang in the All-England.
The partnership of V Shem and Kok Siang cracked duo to the injury of Kok Siang but the Malaysian coach counted his share in the cumulative performance of the duo.
Kim Her said, “He forged a good partnership with V Shem before getting injured, so I’m fielding them in the All-England to test their level.”
The Malaysian pair V Shem-Kok Siang will strive to find their old chemistry against the duo Cho Gun-woo and Shin Baek-cheol of Korea in qualifying round of All England Championships.
Meanwhile the new Malaysian couple Khim Wah-Ong Jian will also have to earn their spot in the final rounds of the German Open by playing in qualifying rounds. They will face the Polish rivals Lukasz Moren and Wojciech Szkudlarczyk.
The Malaysian coach Kim Her also brings back former top national pair Mak Hee Chun-Tan Wee Kiong in the All England Championships squad to throw an equal chance for every pair.
The Malaysian seeded couple Hee Chun-Wee Kiong is currently busy in home event the Selangor Open and has immunity from qualifying rounds.
The pair of V Shem-Kok Siang has also reserved their spot in the second round and will meet the veteran Malaysian pair of Chan Chong Ming and Lee Wan Wah.
