Malaysian duo of Jian Guo Ong, Yin Loo Lim clears first hurdle in All England Open – Badminton news
The Malaysian mixed doubles pair of Jian Guo Ong, Yin Loo Lim cleared first hurdle in their expedition to main round by overpowering the German couple Johannes Schoettler- Sandra Marinello in opening match of All England Open qualifying round on Tuesday,
March 6, 2012.
The Malaysian mixed doubles experts sealed the victory with a decisive 2-1 lead by putting the final score 20-22, 21-19 and 21-12 on the board. Both teams had to stretch physically and mentally as the clash was settled in 52 minutes.
The German pair Johannes Schoettler- Sandra Marinello took a great start and bagged the first match point after a neck and neck competition in the first set. The both teams exhibited the premium class badminton as they did not allow each other to make a
swift run on the scoreboard.
They were locked in tight situation when both couples scored 20 points on the board but the Germans ended the battle in their favour with scoreboard flashing final figures of 22-20.
The Malaysian pair of Jian Guo Ong- Yin Loo Lim was not harmed at all as they returned in the match in very next set and put German expedition to halt by levelling the lead. The counterattack was so effective that the German defence turned armless and harmless
against the Malaysians.
The second set also kept swinging between the contenders but the Malaysian edged their rivals in the end by registering final score of 21-19. They literally pushed their German challengers in all areas of court and put the life back into match.
The German pair Johannes Schoettler- Sandra Marinello could not hold the pressure of crucial and consequential third set and fell prey to Malaysian hunters.
The Malaysian couple Jian Guo- Yin Loo bagged the final match point with their gusty performance. They made it look easy with notable margin 21-12 on the board which concluded their 2-1 victory in the opening match of qualifying round.
Now the mixed doubles pair is just one step away from main round of the event which is starting on Wednesday March 7.
Meanwhile, the other Malaysians the singles shuttler Muhammad Hafiz Hashim and the women’s doubles pair h*i Ern Ng- h*i Lin Ng also won their opening matches and stepped forward in qualifying round of the All England Open 2012.
