Malaysian duo of Jian Guo Ong, Yin Loo Lim marches into second round of German Open
The Malaysian duo Jian Guo Ong-Yin Loo Lim marched into second round by nailing Swiss couple Anthony Dumartheray- Sabrina Jaquet in mix doubles match of the German Open, today.
The Yonex German Open Grand Prix Gold tournament has officially started today with qualifying round while the main round is going to be staged tomorrow.
The first Malaysian mix doubles pair has set the path for compatriots by winning the opening match and now will test its skills against China’s mix doubles duo Zihan Qiu- Jinhua Tang in second round of the event.
The Malaysians established their grip over match by edging their Swiss rivals in very first set and bagged the first match point. The duo Jian Guo- Yin Loo was a treat to watch while registering the final score of 21-18 on the board.
The couple Jian Guo- Yin Loo pushed their challengers at back foot through their superlative performance. The Swiss duo was completely helpless against the Malaysian invasion and let them have the initial 1-0 lead.
But Anthony Dumartheray- Sabrina Jaquet of Switzerland brought life back into the match in second set when they stormed back and levelled the lead.
The Swiss duo controlled the second set all the way and did not allow their rivals to catch them on the scorecards. They pushed the Malaysian pair in all areas of the court and literally earned the crucial match point with decisive margin of 21-16.
The third set became consequential as the both teams were standing at same level with 1-1 match score.
The both teams entered in court to settle the battle but Swiss duo could not hold the pressure of final set and fell prey to the Malaysians.
The Malaysia’s mix doubles pair Jian Guo and Yin Loo sealed the victory by overpowering the Swiss couple with score sheets showing final score of 21-14.
After this nerve-racking 47 minutes fight the Malaysian duo ensured their spot in the second round of the event and they will lock horns with the Chinese pair Zihan Qiu- Jinhua Tang, who has reached in the second round by thrashing Noriyasu Hirata-Miyuki
