Malaysian women’s doubles teams surge into second round of German Open 2012
It was a day of double joy for Malaysia as two of its women’s doubles teams surged into second round of the German Open on February 29, 2012.
The Malaysian female duo Vivian Hoo-Woon Khe Wei marched into second round by nailing Korean ladies Hye In Choi- So Young Kim while other Malaysian couple Chin Eei h*i-Wong Pei Tty treaded forward by thrashing their Swedish opponents Emelie Lennartsson-Emma
Wengberg in opening matches of first round.
The Malaysian girls Vivian Hoo-Woon Khe Wei set the foundation by bagging the first victory of the day. The World Number 18 duo proved its worth against their Korean opponents Hye In-Kim So in a tussle which lasted for 46 minutes.
The Malaysians established their authority from the opening set of the match and pocketed first match point after putting a distinctive margin of 21-17 on the board. They excelled the Koreans in all areas of game and did not lose the lead on scorecard despite
of their rival’s decent fight.
The Koreans could not get out of the first set loss and trailed behind their challengers all the way. The Malaysian pair Vivian Hoo- Khe Wei clinched the second set also and sealed the straight-set victory with scoreboard flashing the final figure of 21-16.
The duo Vivian-Khe Wei will face the Japanese couple Miyuki Maeda-Satoko Suetsuna in the second round.
The other Malaysian female duo Chin Eei h*i-Wong Pei Tty doubled the celebrations when they bagged the second victory of the day by blowing away the Swedish pair Emelie Lennartsson-Emma Wengberg in their opening match.
The both teams kept the scorers busy for 44 minutes and battle was over with the Malaysians claiming the straight-set victory by registering final score of 21-15 and 21-17 on the board.
The World Number 14 pair Chin Eei h*i-Wong Pei Tty was class act specially the Malaysian girl Chin Eei h*i, who endured the death of her father last week, played her vital role in the victory.
In the next round, Eei h*i and Pei Tty are going to meet Jung Kyung-Kim Ha Na of South Korea.
The both Malaysian pairs are in Olympic qualification period and they are trying to ensure their spot in the London Olympics by having a higher position in top 16 women’s doubles teams of the world. The both teams have fair chances to lift up the ranking
as the top Chinese female pairs are not contesting in the German Open.
