Malaysia’s Daren Liew ousts Indra Bagus Ade Chandra in Indonesia Open Premier Super Series 2011
Malaysia’s Daren Liew crushed Indonesia’s Indra Bagus Ade Chandra in the Men’s Singles qualifying round of the Indonesia Open Premier Super Series 2011, held in Jakarta, Indonesia, on Tuesday, June 21, 2011.
Daren, who is one of the most talented upcoming shuttlers in the Men’s Singles national squad of Malaysia, wasted no time in beating Indra Bagus in a two-set match, which lasted only 24 minutes long.
The Men’s Singles World Number 64, Daren, played a planned game by moving quickly in all areas of the court. He refused to slow down the pace of the game against the confused Indonesian, who failed to place his strokes effectively due to the high speed of
the game. His slow movement put his opponent in a strong position to dictate the pace of the game.
Right from the starting points, Daren kept a firm control over the rallies, as he moved Bagus all around the court to return his well-placed strokes. The Indonesian could not cope up with the speed of the game and played many hasty strokes which helped Daren
to build a comfortable gap of points.
Until the interval of the first game, Daren was leading the set by a margin of 11-6. After the break, the Indonesian injected more speed in his strokes to tackle the aggression of his opponent. However, Daren kept his control over the game and clinched the
first set easily by a comfortable margin of 21-13, in just 12 minutes.
In the following game, the Malaysian kept his speed high to prove his worth against Indra Bagus, who was not playing well as his wrong shot selection created problems for him. Daren was in command of the game by playing to his full potential, in front of
a packed indoor arena in Jakarta.
Daren put up a disciplined show by playing top-class badminton in the second set and finished it in an impressive manner with a superb margin of 21-13, by consuming only 12 minutes. The final score of this 24-minute qualifying round contest was 21-13 and
21-13.
