Malaysia’s Lee Chong Wei acknowledges hard work of former coach Misbun Sidek – Badminton news
Malaysia’s ace player Lee Chong Wei has acknowledged the hard work Misbun Sidek did for the shuttlers of the country.
The top seed says that he has a nice relationship with Misbun, who has left the Badminton Association of Malaysia as the national coach for singles.
Misbun resigned from his duties on December 31, 2010. Prior to his resignation, Chong Wei was under his charge and was doing well at the international level. The shuttler has not communicated with the coach since his resignation. However, he accepts that
Misbun has done a lot for his professional career. He wants to meet his former coach to know the reasons that led Misbun to quit his job.
Chong Wei said, “Misbun is a good coach and it is a loss that he does not want to continue coaching. I will always appreciate what he has done for me.”
While talking about whether Chong Wei convinces Misbun to withdraw from his decision to leave the coaching, the shuttler said that he respects the decision of the coach. However, he wants to meet Misbun to know what has gone wrong over the past few months.
Chong Wei has recently clinched the men’s singles title in the India Open Super Series and is comfortable with the current coaches.
“I am training well under Seu Bock and Rashid. But it all depends on how I want to benefit from the training. I am at a stage where I can be quite independent,” said the shuttler.
The main target of Chong Wei is to win the title in the World Badminton Championships starting from August 8, 2011 in England. He is determined to break the deadlock as Malaysia is yet to win any title in the World Championships. The world number one says
that he desires to win for as long as he can for his country.
Chong Wei’s current coach, Teh Seu Bock said that Misbun is a part of the coaching setup and his advice will be valued for the promotion of the game. He will meet Misbun after the completion of the event of Malaysia Open GP Gold 2011.
