Malaysia’s Lee Chong Wei confident to recover soon before 2012 London Olympics
Malaysia’s best player Lee Chong Wei is confident that he will recover from his ankle injury soon before the commencement of 2012 London Olympics which will kick off in the ending week of July, 2012.
The World Number Two Chong Wei, who has been occupying the top position in the Men’s Singles world rankings for almost four years, is quite satisfied with the healing progress of his ankle tissue which he got damaged during the Thomas Cup Finals 2012 in
last month at Wuhan, China.
Chong Wei skipped two Super Series tournament after getting injury which pushed him down from top position to number two in the world. Lin Dan of China has become the World Number One at the moment.
The 29-year-old Chong Wei kept on pushing himself to recover from the injury in order to live up to the expectations of innumerable fans in every corner of the world and is almost 70 percent fit.
He has started court training and is working hard to maintain his fitness despite having an injured ankle which shows his unbeatable commitment and dedication towards achieving his goal which is to win the gold medal at Olympic Games.
While talking about his prospects in London, Chong Wei said that his rivals are quite uncertain about his recovery and it will give him an edge over all of them.
However, he also made it clear that many things happen against what one plans for.
Chong Wei stated, “My rivals are unsure of my progress and keeping them guessing will only help my cause. Before the last Olympics, I beat Lin Dan in the Thomas Cup and everyone started seeing me as a gold medal prospect for the Beijing Olympics. Three months
later, Lin Dan came back strongly to beat me in the final.”
He further added, “With the injury, the pressure will not be on me. I am just focused on my progress and I am confident I will recover fully soon.”
Chong Wei will continue playing for another two years as he wants to quit from international arena in 2014 after playing the next editions of Asian Games and the Thomas Cup Finals.
