Malaysia’s Lee Chong Wei eases into semi-final of the 2011 Indonesia Open Premier Super Series
Malaysian shuttler, Lee Chong Wei, eased into the Men’s Singles semi-final after crushing Vietnam’s Nguyen Tien Minh, in the quarter-final of the 2011 Indonesia Open Super Series, in Indonesia, on June 24, 2011.
World Number One shuttler in the international rankings, Chong Wei, is performing according to the expectations of the Malaysian squad, as he has proved that he is the best athlete in badminton at the moment. Wei has clinched many important titles in the
current year.
He spent only 34 minutes in the quarter-final against Tien Minh and won the match by playing at the highest level of the game with a superb margin of 21-10 and 21-14.
A relaxed Chong Wei played confidently in the entire match and he did not drop down the speed of the game at any stage of the match. The Malaysian was patient and waited for the right opportunity to score points. He made no errors in the opening game against
a shaky Tien Minh, who was playing without any spark in his game.
Right from the start, Chong Wei remained in the lead and he finished the first game in a remarkable fashion with a wonderful difference of 21-10, in just 16 minutes. The top seed was quite comfortable in his movement on the court, as he picked the bird from
all areas with considerable ease.
In the following set, Tien Minh matched the speed of the Malaysian but only for a few opening points. The Malaysian increased his pace as the match progressed and reached 11-7 until the break.
After the break, the 28-year-old Chong Wei continued his positive run in the match and finished it quite easily with a margin of 21-14, by spending just 18 minutes in the court. Chong Wei won the 34-minute quarter-final battle with a 21-10 and 21-14 margin.
In the Men’s Singles semi-final showdown of the Indonesia Open, top seed, Chong Wei, will meet the winner of the other quarter-final battle between China’s Chen Long and compatriot, Du Pengyu.
