Malaysia’s Men’s Doubles players, Tan Boon Heong and Koo Kien Keat to train under Pang Cheh Chang
Malaysia’s Men’s Doubles top players, Tan Boon Heong and Koo Kien Keat are set to train under the supervision of new coach, Pang Cheh Chang. Both shuttlers wanted to work under the patronage of Cheh Chang instead of their existing coach, Rexy Mainaky, who
has been training them for the last five years.
The poor performance of shuttlers during the last one year has forced them to train with a different coach.
Cheh Pang has been working as a coach in the national setup of the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) for a long period that comprises on eight years. The pressure to produce better performances from Tan Boon and Koo Kien does not shake his determination
as he is ready to take the challenge.
Tan Boon and Koo Kien, who are occupying the Fifth place in the Men’s Doubles world rankings, requested the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) that they want to train under the supervision of Cheh Chang.
The 37-year-old Cheh Chang said, “I am ready to help if the management and Rexy are agreeable to the players’ request. I will continue with what Rexy has started with Koo and Tan and I will do my best to help them end their chase for honours at the London
Olympic Games.”
He further added, “I have no personal interests in accepting the players’ request. My only intention is to help them and perform my duty to bring honour to the country. It will be better if all coaches work as a team to help Kien Keat-Boon Heong regain their
form.”
The coach wants to work together with National Sports Council for the training of Tan Boon and Koo Kien Keat. He is determined to produce better results in the upcoming events and also to win a medal at the 2012 Olympic Games.
The shuttlers are expected to participate in the upcoming back-to-back events including 2011 China Masters Super Series and 2011 Japan Open Super Series. The shuttlers will participate in these events under the supervision of the new coaching setup.
