Malaysia’s Ng h*i Ern happy with win in Women’s Doubles first round at the 2011 World Championships
Malaysia’s talented player, Ng h*i Ern is happy with her victory as she and her sister, Ng h*i Lin defeated Elena Prus and Anna Kobceva of Ukraine in the first round of Women’s Doubles at the 2011 World Championships, in London, on Monday, August 8.
The Ng sisters played to their full potential and impressed the crowd with their spirit and aggressive approach as they showed no mercy to the Ukrainian shuttlers and won the match in straight games by taking only 27 minutes.
In the opening game of this Women’s Doubles match, the Malaysian ladies delivered a wonderful performance by dominating the game from the start. They maintained a superb pressure on their opponents throughout the first set and won it with a stunning difference
of 21-14 in just 12 minutes.
The second game was quite tough as both pairs remained close without letting each other to build a lead. The score remained tight until the second set entered into the concluding phase, where the Malaysian sisters again proved their worth and clinched the
game with a narrow margin of 22-20 by taking 15 minutes in the court.
After winning their opening round fight, h*i Ern said, “I am happy to win my first match in my first world meet. It feels good.”
While talking about the second game of the match, h*i Ern added, “But after the first game win, we started to relax and it almost got out of hand. Fortunately, we were able to restore the situation.”
In the Women’s Singles second round, the Malaysians will take on Japan’s Ayaka Takahashi and Matsutomo Misaki, who are the 15th seeds in the mega event.
h*i Lin commented on the second round match against the Japanese shuttlers by saying, “It will be much tougher against the Japanese. They will keep coming at us and we anticipate a longer time on court. We will have to be mentally ready for them. The record
stands at 1-1 against them. Hopefully, we will be able to take our chances well.”
The Women’s Doubles second round will be played today and the Ng sisters are confident to continue their winning streak in the World Championships.
