Malaysia’s Teh Seu Bock will be the official coach of Lee Chong Wei in the India Open Super Series 2011
Malaysia’s men’s singles coach, Teh Seu Bock, will be the official coach of World number 1, Lee Chong Wei, in the forthcoming event of India Open Super Series 2011, starting from May 26 in New Delhi, India.
The top seed remained unlucky in his previous two tournaments in India back in 2009. In the India Open 2009, Chong Wei lost to China’s Chen Long in the first round. Meanwhile, in the World Badminton Championships 2009, the World number 1 failed to beat Indonesia’s
Sony Dwi Kuncoro in the quarterfinal match. But this time he is the clear favourite of the title as the World number 2, Lin Dan of China, is not participating in the India Open.
Teh Seu has been working with Chong Wei along with some other shuttlers of national squad since January 2011.
“I have been taking care of him (Chong Wei) for the last few months. There is no special feeling even though I am now officially his full-time coach. The task is the same – to guide him and help him win as many titles as possible,” the coach said.
He also added, “It is important to keep him in the right frame for the challenges to nail an elusive title for Malaysia. He has won the All-England title and his condition has been impressive thus far.”
In the men’s singles draw, Sony Dwi Kuncoro of Indonesia, Boonsak Ponsana of Thailand and Lee Hyun-il of Korea will be competing in the same half as Chong Wei. From the bottom half of the men’s singles draw, Taufik Hidayat of Indonesia and Peter Hoeg Gade
of Denmark will be competing for the title.
Chong Wei has already won three major events in 2011 including Super Series Masters Final, Malaysia Open Super Series and the All England Premier Super Series. However, in the Korea Open Premier Super Series 2011, the World number 1 lost in the final to
his arch rival, Lin Dan of China.
Now for the first time, Teh Seu will perform his duties as a personal coach for Chong Wei in the super series event and he is optimistic for good results.
