Malaysia’s Wong Pei Tty – Chin Eei h*i qualify for World Badminton Championships 2011
Malaysia’s Wong Pei Tty – Chin Eei h*i qualified for the women’s doubles category in the World Badminton Championships 2011, which will be held in the Wembley Indoor Arena London, England from August 8 to 14.
Tty – Eei h*i delivered a tremendous performance in last week’s Australian Open GP Gold 2011, and finished as runner-up of the event. This performance improved their world doubles ranking massively as they have now progressed from world number 74 to 48.
This shoot in their rankings, as a result, have earned them a place in the World Championships. A country can send two women’s doubles pairs if they are ranked in the first 64 positions in world rankings. The other pair from Malaysia, who have already qualified for the mega event, are h*i Lin – h*i Ern. The duo have occupied the 38th place in the women’s doubles world rankings.
Just before the Australian Open, Tty recovered from an injury and had to start her partnership with Eei h*i from scratch. She said that she was not expecting such a tremendous performance.
“I never expected this. I had given up hope of qualifying for the world meet as my goal was to build my partnership with Eei h*i from scratch for the London Games,” said Pei Tty.
The Malaysian went on to add, “But our good results in the Australian Open have changed our fortunes. This will give us the confidence to make our way to the top again.”
Now the major goal of the 29-year-old, Tty, is to qualify for the 2012 London Olympics. Tty – Eei h*i are ready to play in the upcoming event of India Open Super Series 2011, which will take place in India on April 26. It will be the first super series tournament for the newly formed pair.
Tty believes the contest in India will be very tough as many top pairs from all over the world are participating in the event. However, she has not set any goals for this event. She is optimistic to perform well without feeling the pressure of any opponent, which she believes would help her develop a better flow and coordination with her new partner, Eei h*i.
