Malaysia’s Wong Pei Tty and Chin Eei h*i have set a target for themselves, which is to perform well in the Women’s Doubles category in the upcoming tournament of the Singapore
Open Super Series 2011, which will take place in Singapore, from June 14-19.
Wong Pei and Chin Eei have been doing quite well for the last couple of months, as they were the runners-up in the Australia Open GP Gold 2011. The duo also managed to reach the
quarter-final stage in the India Open Super Series 2011.
It will be a tough challenge for the Malaysian duo to beat the top Chinese pairs which are set to participate in the Singapore Open. The event is very important, as it will help
the pair to earn maximum possible points, which will help them in booking a place in the 2012 London Olympics.
In last week’s Sudirman Cup 2011, Wong Pei and Chin Eei lost to Korea’s Ha Jung Eun and Kim Min Jung in the quarter-final stage, with a narrow margin.
Wong Pei, who suffered with a knee injury last year, has not yet recovered fully from the mishap. While talking about her recent performances after recovering from injury, Wong
Pei said, “It shows that my condition has improved but it is still not good enough. Eei h*i and I are slowly regaining our tournament feeling.”
The Malaysian knows that the participation of Chinese shuttlers will make the event very tough for them.
Wong Pei added, “The return of China will certainly raise the competitiveness in the women’s doubles event at the Singapore Open. We will not meet them in the early rounds but
it will still be a challenging tournament for us.”
The Malaysian pair is currently placed at the Number 33 rank in the Women’s Doubles world rankings. In the Singapore Open, Wong Pei and Chin Eei will play to their full potential
to give a good boost to their confidence for the upcoming events which include the Indonesia Open Premier Super Series 2011 and the important tournament of the World Badminton Championships 2011.
