Malaysia’s top bet Lee Chong Wei is making fast progress in training sessions, says James Selvaraj
The High Performance Director of Badminton Association of Malaysia James Selvaraj said that Lee Chong Wei is doing extremely well in training sessions after recovering from his ankle injury and is putting in his best effort to regain his confidence ahead
of the London Olympics.
All Olympic bound Malaysian shuttlers are busy in a training camp at Bath, England and will move to London on July 24.
Besides the World Number Two Chong Wei, many other shuttlers including Koo Kien Keat, Tan Boon Heong, Goh Liu Ying and Chan Peng Soon are also doing impressive job in training sessions as all of them are showing their determination to grab titles at Olympics.
Chong Wei’s major opponents are top shuttlers from China including the reigning Olympic Champion Lin Dan, Chen Long and Chen Jin.
The 29-year-old Malaysian has recuperated from his ankle injury with an incredible speed and will be at his beat to challenge all of his Chinese rivals at the mega event.
While talking about Chong Wei’s progress in recovering from injury and his training on court, Selvaraj said that he is doing superbly well.
He stated, “He has been making fantastic progress since the injury and all he’s trying to do now is to forget about the pain and focus on his game. He has been moving well and is slowly but surely regaining his confidence.”
He further added, “Right now, the coaches are putting him through different strokes to simulate each and every possible opponent. They’re also trying to get his accuracy back on track and everything is coming along well.”
Selvaraj also extended praise for the sparring partners of Olympic bound shuttlers.
The sparring partners including Chong Wei Feng, Liew Daren, Ong Jian Guo and Chan Kwong Beng in Singles and Goh V Shem-Lim Khim Wah, Teo Kok Siang-Mak Hee Chun and Woon Khe Wei-Vivian Hoo in Doubles are assisting the Olympic bound shuttlers in the best possible
manner.
Chong Wei is working to forger his pain and also to get rid of the psychological effects of injury as it will help him to get his confidence back and to play freely in Olympic Games.
