Malbay Phanter all set for the Belle 475
The Belle 475 will witness the participation of Millwards Tiger, Parkwest Angel, Tullna Panda, Guinness Magic, Agincourt Cilla and Malbay Phanter. They will race over 475 metres flat at Hove on Thursday, 30th August. The prize money of the race
is set at £150.
One of the most celebrated entries for the race is the three-year-old, Malbay Phanter. The black hound proved himself right at the beginning of the season by striking a hat-trick. The first two races of the hat-trick were at Hove over 475 metres while the
final leg was over 285 metres at the same track.
On 27th February, 2012, he won a 285 metres race at Hove. Breaking into an early pace, taking the middle and then going wide got him the race in 16.40 seconds. His lead of 4 ¾ lengths made Droopys Minnie to settle as the runner-up of the race.
The trainer, D. Childs, drilled his under charge twice in order to retain his form. The efforts made their way down the drain as Killahan Phanter’s son ended as the runner-up in the Coral 475 (Duplicated) on 22nd March, 2012 at Hove over 475 metres.
He was entered as the collective favourite and lost the race by a neck’s margin against the winner, Ministry Missile, who settled the affair in 27.84 seconds.
The runner-up took 27.86 seconds to make it to the other end of the wire.
His next attempt at posting the hat-trick failed due to the third position in the Greyhound Derby 1st Round Heat 1 (5 To Qualify) on 27th April, 2012 at Wimbledon over 480 metres. He ended third after racing for 28.94 seconds. The back-to-back
that he struck before landing the failure was at Hove and then at Wimbledon.
The most recent success of the D. Childs trained was in the Shane World Greatest Classic on 23rd August, 2012 at Hove over 475 metres. The three-year-old went wide after breaking from the sixth gate and led from the third spot settling the race
in 27.81 seconds. Missing the race by 1 ½ lengths was the favourite entry, Forest Dot, who timed the track distance in 27.93 seconds.
