Malbay Phanter wins The Coral 475 meters race - Grade OR - Greyhound Racing
Malbay Phanter managed to win the Grade OR (Open Race), The Coral 475 meters Greyhound, at Hove, on January 5, 2012. He earned a cash prize of £150 with this victory.
The race winning hound was trained by D Childs, and was born in November, 2009, to Killahan Phanter out of Malbay Marshall. He started the race from trap number six, and finished at the top of the table.
Malbay Phanter’s starting price was 5 to 2, and he covered the race distance in just 27.87 seconds.
He was the only dog to finish within the bracket of 27 seconds, whereas all the other hounds completed the distance in more than 28 seconds.
Evo Alexander, trained by W R Wrighting, finished second in the race. He gave a tough time to the eventual race winner, but ended up 0.19 seconds behind, completing the overall distance in 28.06 seconds.
The runner up, born in December 2009 to Westmead Alec out of Gouch, started the race from trap number three, with a starting price of 5 to 1.
M J Dartnall trained b***h, Junket Chick, who was amongst the least favourites to win, ended up third in the race. She entered the race from trap number five, with a starting price of 12 to 1. Her finishing time was 28.16 seconds.
Real Earnest, trained by P A Thompson, the son of Droopys Scolari out of Mottos Dawn, finished the race in fourth position.
He covered the distance in 28.25 seconds, entered at a starting price of 12 to 1, breaking from trap number 1.
The biggest disappointment of the race was Rayvin Bob, who was the favourite hound to win the race, with a starting price of 4 to 6.
However, he only managed to complete the race in 28.34 seconds.
Rayvin Bob’s trainer, S A Cahill, would certainly have been extremely disappointed with the result, as his dog had the potential of ending at the top of the chart. However, he failed to live up to the expectations.
Mays Rocknroller completed the order of finish, ending up sixth. He started the race from trap number two, with a starting price of 12 to 1. The P Goodfellow trained hound covered the distance in 28.57 seconds.
