Maldives International: Itani Kazuya and Tomoya Takashina wrap up Men’s Doubles crown
Japan’s Itani Kazuya and Tomoya Takashina showed their superiority in the court as they wrapped up Men’s Doubles title after beating Thailand’s Suwat Phaisansomsuk and Wasapon Uttamang at the final encounter of Maldives International Badminton Challenge
2012 on Sunday, June 3, 2012.
The un-seeded Itani and Tomoya showed their elevated run in the final contest and managed defeat their Thai opponents in a mouth-watering fight that ended with a close margin on the board.
The in-form Itani and Tomoya had to dig into their arsenal and remained successful in winning the battle in straight sets with a dramatically tight margin on the score board.
In the meanwhile, Suwat and Wasapon tried to put up thrilling show and also remained close to their Japanese rivals throughout the contest but failed to live up to expectations in the ending points and lost the match in 42 minutes with a tight score.
In the first game, both sides showed their brilliance by playing to their maximum potential and progressed on the score board without taking a clear lead.
The fast tempo of rallies and wonderful attacking play from both sides grabbed the interest of local crowd. Until the interval, the score remained tight on the score board from both sides.
After the interval, both sides continued playing at their maximum potential and also remained close until the score reached at the breathtaking stage of 20-20 when Itani and Tomoya defied all odds and scored two points in a row to grab the set with a margin
of 22-20.
In the second game, both pairs again played to their maximum potential while remaining fully focused in the court.
The cracking sound of powerful smashes and net killings could be heard everywhere in the court. Until the break, the score again remained close.
After the interval, Itani and Tomoya tried to show their supremacy by playing with precision but failed to shake the boat of their rivals who were also impressive in the court.
The score continued progressing in a tight fashion and reached at the dramatic stage of 27-27 when Itani and Tomoya remained successful in scoring the ending points and won the set with a tight score of 29-27.
Itani and Tomoya won this sensational fight in 42 minutes with a 22-20 and 29-27 score on the board.
