  1. I actually worked at a pet store in the fish department for one year, and depending on the fish there are different ways of telling the difference.  On the bottom of the fish is a very small fin, under the back fin.  On a female, it will be fanned out like the shape of a triangle.  On a male, it will be tucked in, like a small line.  For other livebearer fish, such as swordtails or guppies, the more decorated fish are the males.  But the small fin at the back underside is the best way to tell.  You probably won't be able to tell the difference between the male and female babies for a little while, as fish start out as asexual.

  2. The females are usually always bigger than the males.

  3. What the..

  4. When they mature, the males have long, thin anal fins (behind their bellies) and females have fan shaped anal fins.

  5. The males have the longer dorsal fins than the females. Color like some people might believe has nothing to do with the sexes in Mollies. If you also look real close on some females, they have the rounder bellies to carry the babies because of live birth.

  6. with all live bearers the male swims with his anal fins extended out while the females tend to keep them close to the body also if you look real close between the anal fins you can see the males s*x tube the femal of course does not have the tube
