Male vs Female Guinea Pig. Which is easier to care for?

I really want male guinea pigs instead of a female but do you really have to clean out their privates??

make sure that both males are babies cause adult males may figth, 2 females would get along really well, females or males you still have to take big responsibility on them both are cute

I used to have 2 guinea pigs as well... both were male. As you know 2 males if put together will fight, but those two grew up together since young so it's fine. Males eat more than females, more active, more aggresive (though it depends on the personality) and the size is bigger. Think carefully about it, and remind you that guinea pigs can be very costly. I had to send mine away to another friend because I can't afford keeping them anymore :(

Well I currently own 2 female guinea pigs. They are really easy to care for, and they don't have a period (where they bleed) they usually just get nippy, more agitated during that time. I don't think you have to clean out their privates ( I don't with my girls). My friend owns a male guinea pig and she says that males deffinatly smell worse than females, because they "mark their territory", etc. Also with two males you have a higher chance of them not getting along, so make sure they are both babies = higher chance of getting along, or just get 2 females. Just make sure they are the same s*x (two males, or two females) so you don't have any un-expected piggy babies! Good luck!

well if u wer buying one, i would deffinatly suggest a male. they are more friendly than the females. but seeing as u are buying two, then you have no choice. they have to both be female.

I think that male guinea pigs are easier to take care of, but of course two males are most likely to fight.  I would get two males.  Make sure they are young and grow up with each other, because they will most likely to fight if one is young and the other is older.  Females are harder to take care of because the whole pregnancy thing.  The cramps and other stuff that happens to their body as they get older.
