Malek Jaziri crushes Radu Albot in the second round – Istanbul Challenger 2012
World number 104, Malek Jaziri, thundered onto the Moldavian native, Radu Albot in the second round of the American Express Istanbul Challenger 2012, held on the hard courts of Turkey. Jaziri celebrated his 6-2, 6-4 victory over
his rival.
The top seeded Tunisian professional broke his rival’s initial serve and clinched the initial two games, stamping a 2-love lead. The right-hander Moldavian picked a slow start and seemed powerless in front of his rival. Jaziri
busted his serve in the fifth game with a 4-1 score and merrily progressed towards the end with a strong focus and nudged forward, securing a 6-2 lead.
The Tunisian professional smashed three aces and maintained 63 percent first serve accuracy. He also stole 13 of 15 points and secured the single break point offered to him. On the contrary, Albot lagged behind as he manifested
a comparatively lower first serve precision percentage of 48 percent with seven of 11 points.
The game picked moment in the next set, as the 22-year-old Moldovan professional struggle hard to s**t the momentum. He dissolved his rival’s serve in the fourth game and clamped the initial lead. As Jaziri exhibited a comparatively
slower pace than before, so Albot push forward and mark his 2-4 lead. Nonetheless, the higher ranked Tunisian professional returned to his former form and broke his rival’s serve and smoothly battled forward and secured a 6-4 win.
The Moldovan right-hander displayed a relatively higher first serve accuracy of 77 percent, converting 16 of 23 first and one of seven second serve points. The Tunisian senior had a low initial serve of 43 percent but he pocketed
away 14 of 16 first and nine of 21 second serve point. He secured the edge because he capitalized four of five serve breaks, where as his rival could not even attain a single point out of the two presented to him
In the quarter-finals of the Challenger the Tunisian participant will contest against the eight seeded, Dmitry Tursunov. The Russian professional battled past Roman Borvanov in the second round. He defeated his rival after a tough
encounter 6-2, 6-4.
