Malek Jaziri dismisses Lukas Rosol to enter semis – Kremlin Cup 2012
Tunisian star, Malek Jaziri, stomped over Czech Republic’s Lukas Rosol in straight sets at the Kremlin Cup 2012 on Friday. He nudged up a 7-6(5), 6-3 victory against the 27-year-old to secure a place in the final four at this ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals)
World Tour 250 Series event held in Moscow, Russia.
The Tunis warded off early resilience posed by Rosol to steal the show and progress into the final four. After earning the victory in one hour and 44 minutes, Jaziri took lead in the FedEx ATP Head 2 Head Series by 1-0 against the world number 88 and advanced
into the semi-finals at this indoor hard court event.
Jaziri commented in an on-court interview after conquering the Czech:
"I'm very happy to reach the semi-finals today. I'm very excited to be at this stage and why not reach my first final too? I hope to continue in this way; I'm playing good."
The Tunisian veteran assertively entered the Olympic Stadium. He dusted away four breakpoints he faced to keep his entire serves. Jaziri squandered all four break opportunities but dominated in the tie-breaker, eventually clicking the opener with a 7-6(5)
win.
Ranked 112th in the South African Airways ATP World Tour Rankings, Jaziri maintained consistency in his game in the following set. He dusted away all three breakpoints he encountered and got the breakthrough in the eighth game, eventually sealing
the set by winning six games to three.
The 28-year-old struck five aces and produced a better first serve share of 68 per cent as compared to his rival’s 53 per cent. He ended the match with 77 points and inched closer towards his maiden career title.
Next challenge for Jaziri is the second seed, Andreas Seppi from Italy.
Seppi commented in a post match press conference about his next match-up:
"Jaziri has had good results this year, improving a lot since I last played him exactly one year ago. I need to be aggressive like I was today."
The Italian seed crushed the eighth seed, Tatsuma Ito from Japan, with a breadstick in just under an hour. He bagged his entire serves with poise and cashed four out of five break chances to formulate a 6-2, 6-1 success.
