Malek Jaziri prevail over Sergiy Stakhovsky in the round one – Geneva Open 2012 CH 
Fifth seeded, Malek Jaziri, successfully journeyed into the round two of the IPP Geneva Open 2012 held at the hard courts of GreenSet GrandPrix, Switzerland. He defeated the Ukrainian professional, Sergiy Stakhovsky, in a three-set
battle, 6-4, 4-6, 6-4, on the eve of Tuesday after taking nearly one hour and 53 minutes.
The world number 90, Jaziri, began the match with a strong resolve to control his challenger from the start. He dissolved his serve in the third game and marked a 3-1 lead right away in the opener. However, none of the players
broke his opponent’s serve after that but the higher ranked Tunisian professional kept dominating. Despite of the Ukrainian’s losing edge he battled until the end and terminated the initial set with a 6-4 score line.
In the second set, the two contenders held their initial serve and the score line levelled down after every alternate game. The 26-year-old, Stakhovsky, held his initial serve and battled hard to maintain his lead. Nonetheless,
the Tunisian competitor squared down the scores to 2-all in the fourth game. He nudged forward to clinch the last two games, nailing his challenger’s serve and closed the set with a 6-4 lead.
In the decider, the right-hander Jaziri responded and drew the lead by breaking his challenger’s serve in the third game. The number 89th in the ATP World Tour Rankings sustained his high pace performance and rallied
forward with a strong resolve to win and busted away his rival’s all attempts to take over. Eventually, he terminated the final set with a 6-4 win.
The 28-year-old, Jaziri, had a considerably lower initial serve accuracy of 47 percent, with 11 of 16 first and 12 of 18 second delivery points in his bag. He cashed away one of the three break points and his rival was unable to
capitalize on even one. The Ukrainian professional manifested 70 percent first serve with 13 of 23 first and eight of 10 second serve points.
For the next round, the 6ft 1in Tunisian participant will encounter the local challenger, Henri Laaksonen. Previously, he gave an outstanding defeat to the South African senior, Rik de Voest.
