Malesani enjoying to be on top of the league table and all-praise for his team: Serie A news
Genoa manager, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alberto-c4309 Malesani, is delighted to see his team on top of the league table for the first time since 1999.
The Marassi club are equal on points with Juventus and Udinese but a superior goal difference puts them on top of the table. The Rossoblu had a disappointing opening game when they drew 2-2 against Atalanta and were heavily criticised
by the Club President, Enrico Preziosi, for their performance. However, since then, the team has not looked back and have been in superb form in their last two games.
Malesani’s men beat http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lazio-c39775 2-1 and Catania 3-0 in their last two games respectively. The former Bologna manager is honoured to lead the table and believes that it is a moment of huge pride for the club. The 57-year-old is not sure
how long his team will stay at the top but he is delighted with the start to the season.
The tactician is all-praise for his team’s performance against Catania in their last game but still feels that there is room for improvement.
Talking to the reporters Malesani said, “I had not been top of the table since 1999. It may only last one round, but it is a source of great pride for Genoa. Against Catania we played a wonderful game in front of our fans, who
from now on will be even closer to the team.”
“I think there is further margin for improvement, especially in terms of how exciting and entertaining we can be. At the moment Genoa are efficient, which is ultimately the most important thing in football.”
Malesani was appointed as the Genoa head coach before the start of the 2011/12 season and has lived up to the expectations of the fans so far. The manager expressed his disappointment for the two points dropped against newcomers,
Atalanta, and believes that had his team performed well in that game they would have collected maximum points from all of their games.
Genoa will face Chievo Verona in their next league game on Sunday, September 25, 2011.
