Malesani ruing Genoa mistakes but admits Milan superiority: Serie A news
Genoa manager, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alberto-c4309 Malesani, is ruing the mistakes made by his team in the 2-0 defeat at the hands of A.C Milan.
The Rossoblu lost 2-0 at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris on Friday, December 3rd, 2011. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Antonio-Nocerino-c6332 secured the
victory for the visitors, who moved to the top of the league table. The defeat also ended Genoa’s unbeaten run at home.
Malesani is disappointed with his team’s efforts and believes that the players are not learning from their mistakes and are repeating them. The tactician added that his team played on the counter attack but could not make most of the chances they got.
Malesani added, “We had based our approach on counter-attacks, although perhaps we got a bit too pegged back into our own half, even if we rarely ran risks.”
The former Udinese boss is not happy with the Kaladze sending off and believes that it had a major say in the result of the match. The 57-year-old admitted that one of the main reasons for his team’s poor form in the recent matches has been the number of
red cards they have picked up in the recent games.
“When we started to play a little better, we went down to 10 men and conceded a goal because of our mistake. It’s our fifth red card of the season, we go a man down too many times and it’s not good enough.”
Malesani did not discredit Milan for their victory and believes that they were better of the two teams and they deserved to take all three points. The veteran tactician believes that the absence of talismanic striker, Rodrigo Palacio, made a huge difference
and the team sorely missed him.
“Tonight Milan were superior and we were far too sterile in attack. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rodrigo-c31437 Palacio’s absence was sorely felt, as without him it gets really tough.”
Genoa now move to the 9th spot in the league table and will take on Siena in their next game on Saturday, December 10th, 2011.
