Malesani urges his team to remain grounded despite winning against Lazio: Serie A news
Genoa manager, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alberto-c4309 Malesani, has urged his team to move forward from the win against Lazio and concentrate on the next game.
The Rossoblu beat http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lazio-c39775 2-1 in their second league game at the Stadio Olimpico Rome on Sunday, September 18, 2011. The manager received severe criticism from the club President for a poor display in the opening league game against
Atalanta.
Malesani has urged his players to keep up the good work in their next game against Catania at home on September 21, 2011. The former Bologna star is wary of the threat posed by the visitors and admitted that they are in a great
form from the ongoing campaign. The Elephants have picked up four points in their two games thus far and are yet to concede a goal.
The 57-year-old has urged the players to make maximum use of the home games as it will have a huge say in their final league standing.
Talking to the reporters Malesani said, “Catania are a tough side with four points and have not yet conceded a goal. We’ve got to put in a humble performance. I don’t want to see a dip in concentration and the team knows that.
Before these results, I was urged to improve Genoa’s away record. Now they want better achievements at home. Nothing changes for me, as the objective remains the same: win and make the Genoa fans happy.”
“It only matters to a degree where the points come from; the important thing is that we succeed.”
Reports in the media circulated that the hosts might go with a new formation in the next game and might revert to a 3-5-2 setup. However, the former Parma boss is still undecided over the formation he will choose for the game and
admitted that he will decide that before the match.
After hosting Catania, the Marassi club faces a stern test with a trip to Chievo Verona at the weekend.
The corresponding fixture between the two sides ended 1-0 in favour of Genoa in October last year.
