I want to get a Uromastyx, but I need to start saving up my money.

How much should all the supplies plus lizard cost (the initial setup, not the cost of food)

  1. what are u talking about? be more specific

  2. Mali Uros can be expensive to purchase, and set up correctly.

It usually costs about $100 for the uro itself (from a petstore), but I woudn't get one from a petstore, you have a much better chance of getting a healthy one from a reputable breeder.

A mali needs a cage of about 48 inches by 24 inches by 24 inches. MINIMUM. You can NOT keep them in anything smaller. Even though they are relatively small lizards, they are very active, and need the space. It is expensive to buy one, so it's usually reccomended that you build it yourself.

You need a bulb with a high wattage, that will keep your uro with a basking spot of around 130 degrees. They like it HOT!

You need a good UVB bulb, like a ReptiSUN.

    Basking sites&branches.

    Several hides.

Birdseed (Pretty Bird Finch seed) or washed&sifted playsand (from home depot) for substrate

Remember, because uros are strictly Herbivores (they eat only greens, NEVER insects, their food is relatively cheap)

I can't tell you exactly how much this all will cost, but it will be a couple hundred dollars. No less then $300, but probably closer to $400-$500.

If you want to buy a cage, you can get one from http://www.deerfernfarms.com/Cages.htm

Here are some highly recomended supplies that will be very useful for your mali http://www.deerfernfarms.com/Supplies.ht...

Here is a care sheet for uros if you need it. http://www.deerfernfarms.com/Uromastyx_C...

You can also get a Mali Uro from Deer Fern Farms, for about $75.00, which is very cheap, but their uros are normally very high quality, when petstore uros are not. http://www.deerfernfarms.com/Ordering_Pr...

    Good Luck!

  3. Well, for the lizard about......100$

for the tank (55 gallons) about 130

and for the stand another 130 and 20$ for the sand subsrait, 10$ for a basking rock, 130 for the light and light fixture, 15$ for some twisted up wood to climb , that should be all. Good luck! (This is based off of the cozt of a bearded dragon only a uro is more expensive than a beardie, the actaul lizerd is. Good luck.
