Malibu emissions question ?

I have a 98 Malibu V6 bought in WA state. I'm moving to Calif soon. I need to find out if it's possible to have the car's emissions brought into compliance with Calif standards so it will pass smog and be register able in Calif.

Could anyone please give me a lead or two where I could get this work done?

  1. You should call your local chevy dealers service dept. Most newer model Chevy's will meet 50 state emission requirements from the factory.Best of luck.

  2. if you pop the hood on your car and find the emmisions sticker, it should have a spot on it that will read ca. compliant, or federal emmisions compliant; or somthing to that effect. if its reads ca compliant your good to go. if the vehicle is federal compliant it will have to be inspected in ca., by a B.A.R. referee to determine if you will take your vehicle to state certified shop to make the neccesary changes; they will provide you with a list of shops. or get a head start by going to www.bar.ca.gov and you can get more info there
