Malik, Akmal and Kaneria request for more time.
Kamran Akmal, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Danish-Kaneria-c1314 and Shoaib Malik, who are continuously being denied clearance by the Pakistan Cricket Board, have requested for more time; to present the information required by PCB. The PCB had directed the trio to submit their bank accounts
information and records of their moveable and immovable assets. Following the request, PCB has granted the three players time till the end of December.
The International Cricket Council has instructed all participating teams to submit the final 30 man squad for the World Cup by the 19th of December. PCB, however, has sent in an application to the ICC, to get an extension on the date. It has been
reported that cricket’s governing body has moved the date to the 5th of January, for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755.
PCB officials met on Wednesday to decide the squad for the world cup and the ODIs against New Zealand; the meeting ended without any decision. PCB, so far, has not publicly stated the reason behind the axing of the players. All three players were neglected
for the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754.
Wicket Keeper Akmal and leg spinner Kaneria were initially charged for spot-fixing; but these charges were cleared by the ICC. Both players have already submitted a written notice from the ICC, clearing the two players, to the PCB. Earlier in the week, after
a meeting with PCB’s integrity committee, Kaneria said, "I am providing the board with whatever details they have asked for. Now it is just a case of waiting for their decision. I am cooperating in every way. Obviously I am keen to have this stigma off
my name and play for Pakistan again."
Former skipper Malik’s exclusion from the team is even more inexplicable. The player has never been charged by the ICC or PCB for involvement in match-fixing; but the middle order batsmen is still denied entry in the team.
The world cup begins on the 19th of February in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758. With 3 of their key ODI players Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Asif and Salman Butt already missing, Pakistan cannot afford to lose the likes of Akmal and Malik for the
World Cup.
