Malik, Irfan retained for India ODIs – Cricket News Roundup – Part II – December 29, 2012
The Pakistan Cricket Board selectors, on Saturday retained experienced all-rounder http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Irfan-c76983 in the national ODI squad for the India series.
The board announced in a statement today that the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Iqbal-Qasim-c76980 led national selection committee has accepted a request from the team management to retain Irfan and Malik in the one-day squad, adding that the duo would now remain in India for another one week
to play in the three One Day Internationals, starting in Chennai on Sunday.
"These two players (Shoaib Mali and Mohammad Irfan) will now also be part of the one-day squad in India," the statement read. The duo was originally selected in the national T20 squad for the recently concluded two-match series which ended in a 1-1 draw
last night. But Malik’s match-winning half century in Bangalore, and Irfan’s impressive show with the new ball in both the games prompted the selectors to retain both the players for the three one-day encounters as well.
Despite losing the second T20 International against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Hafeez-c76898 said that there were plenty of positives to be taken from the drawn two-match series.
After winning the series opener in Bangalore by five wickets, the tourists lost the second and final T20 in Ahmedabad by 11 runs, allowing http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MS-Dhoni-c2028 and Co square the short series one-all. While speaking to media reporters after the 11-run defeat, Hafeez

Fulton, 33, who was all set to play his first Test in more than three years, suffered the injury while batting during the ongoing three-day practice match against the South African Invitational XI in Paarl. Left-handed batsman Colin Munro has been called
up as a cover for Fulton ahead of the two Tests.
"We have been monitoring the injury closely and Peter played in an effort to determine whether the injury would affect his batting," said New Zealand team physio Paul Close.
"Due to the condensed nature of the tour there is insufficient time to fully recover and he has therefore been withdrawn from the squad. We believe it is best for Peter to return to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754, where he can undergo further assessment and continue his rehabilitation,"
he added further.
