Malkin vs Hossa?

If you had to make the choice, who would you keep, and why?

My vote goes to Hossa. He's a natural winger, unlike Malkin, and already has better chemistry with Crosby than Malkin.

  1. Definitely Malkin

  2. Malkin

he has more talent, he's younger and he is only going to get better

  3. Myvote goes to Hossa. Not sure of Malkin's physical toughness for the grueling cup run. I think he was a little winded and beat up before the finals even started.

  4. If I had to choose, right now?

    Hossa.

But, I'd take Malkin in two years over Hossa in that same span...I think that Malkin is still very immature, both as a player and a person (see any time when he gets frustrated after not scoring *cough* SCF *cough*)

People say Sid is a whiner (not true) but Malkin is worse, sometimes.

Give him a few years to mature, and I'll take him over just about anyone, though.

EDIT: Thrash, the "atlanta days" were what...the beginning of this year? What about the Ottawa days?

  5. I like Hossa but Malkin is a much better player and younger!

  6. Malkin, easy no brainer, doesn't take a genius.

  7. What are you talking about better chemistry. How do you know.

They don't even play on the same line. Crosby is on one line with the good wingers 90% of the time. And Malkin is centering the second liners.

People have such silly expectations of Malkin and are so suprized that he excelled in Crosby's absence. Well duh, give him some talent and see what happens.

Hossa is a better goalscorer. Malkin is a better goal-scoring center. They technically play different positions and fill different roles. Malkin is not a winger and doesnt play wing generally.

Sorry your somparison is off. Its like when people compare Ovie and Crosby. Well no duh one scores more points and the other more goals THATS THEIR JOB. Given the same price Malkin is much younger with more room to grow.

That said if you need a winger go with Hossa. If you want offensive depth keep malkin. Personally I think you are better having 2 good lines than one great hossa crosby line.

  8. Malkin !

  9. Malkin no question. He's already proven he's better than Crosby, so Hossa's "chemistry" would be negligent. He led his team, yes I said his team, to the playoffs while the "next Wayne Gretzkey" sat on the disabled list. Hossa's arrival, along with Crosby's late return only helped to propel the Penguins from second to first. The Malkin-led Penguins fought the entire season to get to that position without Hossa or Crosby. So, I would definitely take Malkin over Hossa and I would also take him over Crosby. The only young player right now that I may take over Malkin is Ovechkin.

P.S. Malkin is better than both Hossa's put together.

The Penguins have just shown that they feel that Malkin is more important to hold onto than Hossa.

  10. I'm a Pens fan and I would rather have Hossa. I feel Malkin shows signs of rather lazy play. Malkins amazing, but very streaky. I want someone consistent, and I feel Hossa is much more consistent than Malkin.

  11. just delete this question already. Your going to get the same answer from everyone. Malkin is the way to go. Younger, more talent, overall better player. I have always liked Hossa back in the ATL days, but ill take Malkin every day of the week

  12. malkin he is by far better than hossa and malkin isn't a finshed product he will only get better hossa will only get worse

  13. Hossa = peice of trash!

    Good riddens.

    Go Pens!

  14. Malkin.

When Crosby went down with an injury last year Malkin stepped up to lead the Penguins, averaged 1.5 points a game in that time span and, along with Ty Conklin who filled in terrifically for Fleury, made sure Pittsburgh stayed in playoff contention. He was actually challenging Ovechkin for the scoring race at that point.

Pretty good for a guy who hasn't turned 22.

  15. malkin because he is younger than hossa. hossa is '79 and malkin is '86. and malkin is pretty much at the same level as hossa is now, at least offensively.

  16. MALKIN HE IS A WORK HORSE AND HE DOES A LOT FOR THE PENGUINS

  17. Malkin. No brainer.
