Malmo versus Rangers – UEFA Champions League qualification: Second leg – Second half (Part 1)
After starting the second half in a weakened position as they were trailing Rangers by a goal to nil from the first half, Malmo decided to change things around a bit in the 47th minute when Mutavdzic was replaced by
Dardan for the Swedish side. This change was seen as a tactical one which gave Malmo the ability to push forward more often than not in order to exploit the potentially leaky Rangers defence.

of the encounter. In the 48th minute, Malmo were awarded a corner kick which was taken by Wilton. However the referee blew his whistle shortly after for a foul on Papac inside the Rangers penalty area as Durmaz had pushed the bulky centre back to
the ground in order to gain an advantage on him.
In the 49th minute, Andersson led his team forward down the right hand side. The Malmo captain found himself under tremendous pressure from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rangers-c40314’ midfielder
and released Wilton down the wing with a superb through ball. However the Malmo winger was unable to collect the ball as his first touch was a wayward one which allowed Rangers to regain possession of the ball.
In the 50th minute, Rangers were awarded a free kick which was fired into the Malmo penalty area by Davis. Ricardinho read the flight of the ball perfectly and cleared the free kick away for a corner kick. In the 51st
minute, Davis’ corner found Edu inside the Malmo penalty area but Jansson intercepted the midfielder’s knock down and cleared the danger from inside his team’s half of the field.
In the 53rd minute, Malmo had a brilliant chance to draw level with their Scottish opponents on the night as Larsson was played in outside the Rangers penalty area by his midfield partners. The Swedish forward decided
to chest the ball down towards Dardan but the second half substitute was unable to apply the required finishing touch on the ball as it sailed high and wide over the crossbar.
In the 54th minute, Rangers fired yet another free kick up the field towards McCulloch but Hamad read the Rangers’ midfielder’s intentions and ushered the ball out of play safely to gain a goal kick for his team. The
opening exchanges in the second half were unexciting to say the least as Rangers were fearful of committing too many men forward due to their numerical disadvantage whilst Malmo were well aware of the fact that another goal by Rangers on the counter attack
would end their chances of progressing to the next round of the UEFA Champions League qualification.
