Malouda: We deserve more credit
Chelsea's Florent Malouda says the Premier League champions deserve much more credit for the way they have started the season.
Chelsea have started the season by winning 6-0 in both of their games against West Bromwich Albion and Wigan Athletic. However, Malouda says there is still very little praise floating around for the side.
The mainstream media have been ranting and raving about the way Chelsea have started the season but there are string suggestions that they will not be able to maintain their goal scoring fluency over a longer period of time.
Chelsea are in full flow at the moment and there are many strengths to the current side. However, comments such as these from players are not necessary and will attract negative publicity to Malouda and the club.
Chelsea strengths
Chelsea score the most goals and this shows that they have the best attack in England. Chelsea scored 103 goals last season and this could be a record in threat based on their first two performances of this season.
They have a brilliant blend of experience and youth, which allows the team to play freely. The experience compensates for mistakes and gaps that appear in the side while the youth and energy allows players like Malouda and Jon Mikel to be more creative.
Chelsea have a settled back four and this is not something that they have always enjoyed the benefit of. Petr Cech is arguably the best goalkeeper in the world and the back four does not look like it is going to change any time soon.
Malouda said: "It is difficult to know why people still seem to think Arsenal and United play the best football. Even when we finished on top of Arsenal, people said they played better than us. If you want to win the league, you have to be efficient, but when you look at how many goals we are scoring, you surely have to recognise there is real quality about us."
Negative publicity
A lot of people will say that there is no need for any Chelsea player to come out in the media and make such comments at an early stage in the season. Everyone knows that Chelsea are a very good football club and negative publicity can only mean problems for the club.
If players are seen to be having a moan for whatever reason then it makes that player and the club as a unit a potential target for rivals. This gives other sides something to focus on with the aim of disrupting Chelsea.
Malouda added: "It is not enough for us now just to go 1-0 up. We have developed a killer instinct and want to finish teams off. There are goals throughout this team and if there is an opportunity to kill a game off, we take it. We'll never go easy on teams and it is great for confidence to know just about everyone in the squad is capable of scoring goals."
Betting advice
Chelsea are odds on for the Premier League title this season and you are well advised to get your bet on before the odds get even shorter. Chelsea consistently display the ability to destroy teams and score a lot of goals and this isn't something that their rivals can do.
Don't back Malouda to be top scorer at the club. Didier Drogba will be a much better candidate to score the most goals for both Chelsea and in the entire Premier League. Get a bet on him right now before he smacks in another hat-trick and the odds shorten again.
