Malvinne Ann Venice Alcala eases into Women’s Singles second round at Singapore International Series
Philippines’ talented female player Malvinne Ann Venice Alcala easily surged into Women’s Singles second round after showing exit to India’s Tanvi Lad in first round battle at the Li-Ning Singapore International Series 2012 on Wednesday, August 15, in Singapore.
The aggressive Malvinne, who is un-seeded shuttler in Women’s Singles draw in the championship, showed her brilliance on court and she thrashed her higher ranked Indian opponent Tanvi who was the fifth seed in the draw.
The lower ranked Malvinne was in full swing as she played controlled and dominating badminton in the whole contest and remained successful in registering a comprehensive victory over her challenger by ending up the fight in two games with a wonderful margin.
On the other hand, the fifth seeded Tanvi played quivering game as she failed to dominate the pace of rallies and also could not responded well to the power play of Malvinne. She lost this first round battle in straight games without proving her worth.
The in-form Malvinne started her run in first game in an aggressive and passionate way as she created pressure on the Indian shuttler and established a reasonable lead at the early stage.
The Indian player, in the meanwhile, tried her best but could not dictate the pace of rallies at any stage and remained trailing behind her lower ranked opponent until the end of opening half.
After the break, Malvinne continued her gutsy performance as she did not allowed Tanvi to play freely and remained on the driving seat.
The power play and positive approach helped Malvinne to grab the first set of this contest with a superb 21-15 score on the board.
In the following game, Malvinne did not lose her focus and again remained successful in getting a strong position until the mid-game interval when she was ahead on the score board.
After the break, Malvinne remained consisted in her smashing play and easily ended the game with a huge difference of 21-14.
The un-seeded Malvinne wrapped up victory against Tanvi in straight sets in just 32 minutes with a convincing margin of 21-15 and 21-14.
