mama kitty had her kittens 2 and 1/2 weeks ago. unfortunately we only have 1 left. mama has her own room with a house i made special for her and the kittens. i keep the door closed so daddy cat will not get in. today i put daddy in my room with the door closed to sleep. i opened mamas door to let her roam the house. she was crying to get out of the room. the next thing i know she brought the kitten out in the kitchen and put her into a paper bag i had just unloaded from the store. why did she do this? what should i do? should i put the bag in her room? please help.

  1. I'd bring the bag to Her room.  If she feels her kittens are safe in the bag let her.. ASLONG AS IT'S NOT PLASTIC for obvious reasons.  Cats often move their kittens around looking for the safest place...

  2. she is trying to protect her little one and the bag provides a shelter. bring it in her room, yes

  3. Jennifer, it won't hurt anything to put the bag in her room. But I can tell you she will move her kitten many more times before it's over. Especially since the other ones have gone on. She will always be looking for a safe place for her kitten, a bag or box, or a closet or even under the bed away from people. You have made her a safe place, but it's just a mothers instinct for them to move their kittens. Let her move the kitten where ever she wants to except outside until it gets older. They will be fine. If you want her to keep her kitten in the bedroom, and not move it out, you will have to let her out and shut the door behind her until she cries to get back in. But she will still move her kitten around in that room. It's okay. It's normal and the kitten and mama will be just fine . Catlover
