Mambo mano. i have mp4 files but they won't play on it. i tried converting them with the mtv

i have mp4 files but they won't play on it. i tried converting them with the mtv converter but that doesn't work either. i also tried converting them into avi and then mtv, no such luck. it says that this thing plays mp4's but i need help doing that.
