Mammoth Mountain close winter season on Monday
One of California’s best ski resorts, Mammoth Mountain, closed its skiing operations for the season on Monday, July 4th.
The season reached its end after 236 consecutive days of skiing and snowboarding on the Mountain. It started its skiing operations for the winter on November 11th and had one of the most memorable seasons ever, with heavy snowfall throughout the
season, making the resort paradise for the skiers and snowboarders.
Talking about the current season, a Mammoth-based pro Chris Benchetler said, “We have more snow and a better park than any past summers I can remember. It's been the perfect training grounds for getting ready for next season. Skiing in the morning, hit the
newly opened bike park mid day, then rock climb in the afternoon.”
With a base depth of snow somewhere around 1.5-7 feet this weekend, the resort had six lifts operational on the final day of the season. These included the Broadway, Stump Alley, Face Lift, and the Upper and Lower Panorama Gondolas.
Mammoth Mountain enjoys an extremely good reputation among the winter action sports athletes. The Winter X Games 15 Slopestyle gold medallist, Kaya Turski, is one of the many athletes who train at the resort in spring.
Talking about the resort, the 23-year-old pro skier, who landed the first women's switch 1080 a few months earlier, said, “I love cruising through the park at Mammoth on a warm, slushy day. The park is always dialed with all-sized jumps and jibs. The park
crew knows what's up and even though it gets really soft, they keep it well maintained.”
The closing of Mammoth Mountain’s skiing and snowboarding season will be extremely disappointing for the snow lovers. However, the skiing and snowboarding terrain is not the only attraction that the resort holds. The Mountain also offers summer activities
for its guests. These include a Sierra Star Golf Course and trails for BMX riders.
For those who are already feeling restless for snow action, the wait will not have to be too long. The next season for Mammoth Mountain’s skiing operations is expected to begin after four months.
