  1. That is so horrific and disturbing. There is no reason, he's a deranged maniac. It was late at night, most people were sleeping or watching a movie. People traveling by bus are often women, children, elders and students. It's really hard to even turn around in those buses imagine trying to stop someone with a hunting knife. This is one case I wish we had death penalty in Canada.

He's been accused of second degree murder. They say he did not plan this murder. I'm sorry but when you travel with a knife like this and change seat to sit next to someone smaller then you...I call that a plan!

  2. maybe nobody knows yet

37 people aboard  it would only take about 10 to stop  the madman

i guess they all have to live with themselves now

  3. I don't think they know why yet.  They're probably still interviewing him to ascertain the reason(s) why.  As for why nobody tried to stop him, maybe it happened so fast and people just panicked and wanted to escape.  It's hard to say what any of us would do in that situation.  You have to be very confident that you will be able to successfully stop the person otherwise they will turn the knife on you.

  4. Probably because the guy had a huge hunting knife.

  5. It's one thing to say how we WOULD act in a given situation but totally different as to how we DO act.  To turn around and see that absolute carnage and insanity would send me running OUT of the bus as fast as I could go.  Also, the passengers probably didn't have anything on them that compared to that "RAMBO" knife the guy supposedly had.

It's really hard to fathom that happening in my presence.  It's such a mystery as to why he did it.  I wish I knew why.  Poor guy that got killed.  I can't imagine.

  6. They said they don't know the EXACT reason but that he has the traits of a psychopath.  He should be tortured by the victims family.  I feel so sorry for the victim.  He was innocently sleeping and was awoken by his death!  I have always been the type to help someone in need of help.  If they are in trouble like that but if someone was repeatedly stabbing another human being in a 'robot-like' way then I would've ran too.

  7. Why?  Nobody knows yet, but my guess is evil itself.  I just found out the beheader, Vince Weiguang Li, 40, and immigrant from China in 2004, worked in my neighborhood Wal-Mart in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

Your link says there were 37 passengers on board, so it's quite clear the everyone just ran off like cowards instead of one of them putting the guy in a headlock and yelling for help.  Why else do you think most of them don't want to be interviewed?

One of the witnesses, Garnet Caton, says at 3:12 of my Liveleak video:

"I still feel like -- maybe there was something -- when that had happened there was another kind of big guy beside me, and I told him you know 'give me a hand.  Let's get this guy,' but the other guy took off."

I think some of these people are going to have trouble living with their conscience.  You could get hurt if you intervene, but you have to take that chance.

Running was not the best thing to do because the guy almost got out of the bus, and could have chased down more passengers.  Was everyone just going to hope to run down the highway?

The August 2 "Edmonton Sun" reports that the victim's friends agree with me:

"Some of victim Tim McLean Jr.'s longtime friends are upset no one on the bus tried to disarm the suspect.  ... 'At least they would have tried,' said Jessica Kehler.  'There were 37 people on the bus.  One of them could have done something,' said Collen Yestrau, ... ."

It's true that Canadians don't have the right to carry handguns unless they can prove their life is threatened to a Firearms officer, but my CBC link on gun crime in the U.S. and Canada says Americans are 8 times more likely to get murdered with a gun than a Canadian, and 3 times more likely to suffer a gun death than a Canadian (Canadians have a higher gun suicide rate), so no, I don't think handgun right to carry laws like the U.S. has is the answer for Canada.

  8. are you kidding, that guy was crazy, I just called 911, what took them so long to get there?

  9. I get the impression that it was basically too late to save the guy once they realized what was going on.

From what I understand, people didn't really figure out what was happening until there was already a hysterical mass of folks heading to the exit.

It's a terrible tragedy, but I don't blame the fellow riders. The only person to blame is the sick **** who did it.

  10. what you don't understand is that people were not on the bus when the victim was beheaded. People were doing their own thing on the bus when all of a sudden people were screaming to get off the bus cause there was a 6' 200lb man stabbing a man, at that point there was nothing they could do, many of the people on the bus were children, women, and elderly, and the man being stabbed was near or already dead. When everyone was off the bus, a few people including the bus driver and a truck driver trapped the man on the bus with the dead victim inside and disabled the bus so that he couldn't get away or hurt any one else. Then the man inside beheaded the victim and either way even if people were inside the bus there was nothing really they could do, the victim was dead when he was beheaded. Everything happened so fast and there was no way they could help the victim so knowing that, they did everything they could do to make sure that no one else got hurt. As for why the killer did what he did, there is no explanation so far, the killer hasn't said anything since the incident or made eye contact, so I'm guessing that it's some kind of mental breakdown, there was no real reason for what happened, the victim was totally at random, no words were exchanged. The killer is on suicide watch and I feel really bad for his wife, she's a good person so I hope no one blames anything on her she had no idea what was going to happen, she did nothing wrong. The whole thing disgusts me I almost cried when I read about it it's just disgusting :S

  11. The why will have to wait to find out, I think it was just crazy stuff. Jumping in and stopping him? Not a chance--- if he was beheading a guy the guy was already dead. I would kill him if he looked my way, but the deed was done. No use risking myself (very precious) to protect a guy who is already dead.

  12. In Candada you are luck to be able to own a rifle in a vault, so a concealed carry permit is out of the question.

Basic survival tells you that if a guys got a big knife, you use a big gun. Candada is afraid that you will kill one of their criminals so they don't want you to own a firearm.
