  1. your nuts. first get either a honda 70 (no clutch), 80, or 100. second you aint gonna race right off the bat. and your parents are right. dirtbiking is hard to fall in love with unless you start at like age 8 (like me!!!)

  2. Your parents are right. A YZ is far to fast for a kid of 14.

Try something like an 80 or mybe a 100cc first.

Go to a local off road centre and ask to try some different models. You will soon see.

  3. I have been riding since I was 6 years old, thats over 25 years now. And I can say this from experience, if you ride within your skills and abilities, you wont get hurt. I am not saying you WILL NOT get hurt, but the likelyhood of you sustaining a crash from not being able to handle the situation reduces. Sure I have been hurt while riding in my zone, but I seem to get hurt a lot worse if I ride outside that zone, whether I am in a race, or just trying to show off.

This is a very fun sport and hobby, but it can be made safer by wearing the proper safty gear, and always wearing a helmet.

A YZ 125 is a great bike, and would be a good bike for you to learn on. Although it has a lot of power, this bike can be rode in any case, meaning you can bog it to learn, or you can get on the pipe and rip.

Now you have to convince your parents to set you up....

Try getting one of them into riding with you. Like your dad or something, so you both can learn to ride at the same time. This will not only give you a chance to go ride all the time with someone, it will give you a bond with your dad or other family member.

    good luck....

  4. Take there advice or go with a crf 150, its not a two stroke so it won't kill you (unless your stupid)

    I personnaly ride a WR250

but I have been riding for 8 years and I am 17, I was riding a cr80 at your age which is a good bike. Actually get a bloody CR85 2005 model

  5. Do you have a dirt bike now? Is it an 80 or 100? At 14, if you haven't ridden a lot a yz 125 will get you hurt because if you can't handle a smaller bike, this bike will be alot tougher to handle.

It takes practice in order to race and if your parents don't have the time or patience to take you an hour away to practice then it may be a little harder for you to get involved.

I learned how to ride a dirt bike when I was small but that is because my dad use to race professionally so I had it easier than most kids. Plus my dad loved taking me out to the track for practice because he could ride too. I learned alot because he showed me the ropes and how to take care of the bike as well.

I usually placed 1st or 2nd in my division because I didn't have to fight dirty, it was my training and experience.

All this when I was young and into my teens.........

Oh did I forget to mention I'm female too!
