the police told me my bike was a "disturbance" so i havent been able to ride it except when my parents feel like taking me out to my grandfathers house to ride in the woods. i bought a dirt bike in the first place because i really wanted to get into dirtbiking and possibly freestyle motocross just as a hobby and i had the perfect place to ride but now im SOL. i tried everything. i looked through all the laws, called the police for information themselves, tried finding the land owner to ask for permission, tried looking into scanners to know beforehand, and even tried to figure out who was calling on me and why its such a big deal to them. but im still stuck with a dirtbike and no place to ride it!

  1. I'm not sure where you live but I would try to hook up with a local shop or find a MX track where you can ride and practice. You could try to find or meet other people that ride and try to hitch a ride with them to a location where you can ride.

People are not really out to get you. No one has time to worry about you everybody is self absorbed into their own little worlds.

There are however people that hate motorcycles and there are also miserable people who hate their boring lives, when they see someone enjoying life it just pisses them off to no end. It wouldn't matter who it was.

But do your best to stay out of trouble being a rebel is not really much fun. Keep riding and persevere to find a place where you can do that which brings you joy. I started when I was ten and I am now older than I like to admit.

    Good luck Sweetie.

  2. Hi Jess,   just another thought I had about your problem..

maybe you could get together with some other young people in your area & petition the local government about supplying an area for dirt riders to use....

you may be able to get the local bike shop involved in the exercise as well( local business to?)

untill then..  I guess its figure 8s in the back yard...

as a last resort.... I would sit my bike in the driveway & tune it up....  8 hours a day.  Revs & noise would get the person who is ringing the police on the phone pretty quick(this assumes the riding area is close to home)..  when they turn up seeing as your on your own property they cant stop you....& you could suggest that if you were riding the bike on the vacant land.  you wouldnt be tuning it in the driveway at home....not sure it will work..  but as a last resort.  youve got nothing to lose..

just had another thought.....(gee im full of ideas today)..

contact the police that came to stop you last time & ask them to contact the person who complained(they wont give you there name)..  maybe they could arrange a specific time that you were allowed to ride the bike..eg.  2 hours after school ,& between 10 &3 an a saturday no riding Sunday...or something like that?????

  3. I dont get why the fuzz say your bike is a "disturbance"

    Is it road legal?

If its a off road bike, then if its on a site/track that allows dirtbikes on it, then there is nothing the police can do.

Is it because its to loud? If so, put a different pipe on it to silence it a bit.

Other then that I dont know what to suggest.

  4. You can check if there are any local tracks at: http://www.motocross-track.com

If there is nothing official nearby, you could see if anyone owns a larger plot of land around you who would be ok with you riding.  They can't kick you off private property if you're given the ok.

If that fails, you can trade in your dirtbike for a dual sport and ride on the street as well as offroad.
