Question:

Man of the match All Blacks vs Wallabies?

Who would be your 'man of the match' from the test at Eden Park? I picked Somerville or Muliaina. Dan was brilliant too but I think I have extra high expectations of him, haha.

I don't know who I would have picked from the previous match, I assume it would be an Aussie player and I'm not so good at paying attention to specific players when they aren't on 'my side', so who would you pick?

  1. Where both Sommerville and Muliaina had excellent games as did Carter, my man of the match would be McCaw. It was his first game back from a couple of weeks off for injury and in many ways he was trying to pick up from when he was injured.

But my eason for picking McCaw is that without him the ABs do appear a little like lost sheep with no idea of where to go. The point is that gainst the Boks and then the Wallabies(bless thir little golden hearts) the ABs did not function at all. Just his presence on the field is enough to change the ABs outlook on the game and the result speaks for itself. McCaw is my man of the match not because of what he did but because of what his presence did for the rest of the team. If he can stay on the field, the ABs will win the Tri Nations and Bledisloe.

I am not an AB supporter but a died in the wool Wallabies fan.

  2. cowan baby

  3. Ali Williams or Tony Woodcock.

And for the previous match, George Smith

  4. The man of the match in OZ was Matt Gitau. I disagreed with that selection as I believe it was easy looking good with a forward pack going forward. Dan Carter was still taking every opportunity and attacking with everything with his team going backwards and I believe he outshone Gitau even though they lost. Where was Gitau and Barnes when they were losing. I would have given that award to Rocky Elsom. His physicallity at the breakdown and around the park was huge and you could see they missed that on Saturday due to his injury.

My pick for the other night is Jimmy Cowen. He fed his 5/8 with quality ball and sniped successfully around the fringes. His kicking game complimented Carters keeping the Wallabies on the back foot all night. His defensive effort was awesome as was his offence taking the ball up when the opportunities came.

  5. The answer could have been one of sveral paleyers inlcuding your big names such as Soalo, Ali Williams, Dan Carter or McCaw. My Pick of the pack was Ali Williams with his roving game around the paddock. He is palying the rugby of his lfe at the moment and put in probably his best game of the season if not his career. He was also montrous in the linout winning oppposition throw after throw as well doing a mammoth amount of work around the field. McCaw made a stunning return to the game putting in some key tackiles at the aussie htimen in defence.Hard dceision but Ali Williams would be my pick.

  6. Cowan had a great game and i'd back him to start again, god willing, but he had room to work with which makes it far easier for a number9. No i'd go with either Richie McCaw or Brad Thorn. Two fellas who showed the complete opposite of what we revealed the week before in aussie and who are both representing the black jersey in all they do on the paddock. They laid the foundations and did the basics so brilliantly which is the winning of the game. That said, bloody hats off to the tight five...certainly wasnt really a backs man of match for myself.

  7. Nonu and Cowan

  8. Woodcock, McCaw, Cowan, Mils, Williams, Carter, Nonu; and Graham Henry for thumbing his nose at the hate mail, gutter press and those traitorous NZers that jumped ahip and supported Dingo Deans and his losers.

  9. Ali Williams. Was solid in the lineouts and on defence, made a couple of mistakes under the high ball but had an impressive game overall.

  10. He was one of the better players on the park against the wallabies..probably not the best but think he deserves alot  of praise for the way he controlled the fowards...found space in behind the autralian back line with his box kicks ( something ellis has not been able to do) and all in all showed how hungry he was to make the number 9 jersey his own..So Jimmy Cowan

  11. woodcock for obvious reasons...

  12. Cowan, McCaw and Woodcock

  13. woodcock or cowin, maybe even henry

  14. Richie. Played well, led brilliantly and showed the toughness in defense we have needed to display. Did anyone else notice Phil Waugh twisting Richies ankle in the early exchanges? Deserved the KO (always does in my humble opinion)

  15. Everyone did pretty well although Nonu did get us the bonus point so my hat goes off to him.

    Cowan was awesome too

  16. McCaw He just said (not really) follow me guys after such a long lay off I didnt think he would last the match and he couldnt have been training that much with a crook ankle.. Woodcock would go close Bang!Bang!  Two tries

    Giteau in sydney
