Man sued for 100,000?

I heard on the news a man sued for 100,000.. anyone here know more about it, or have a link to the news topic. I know he was sued for downloading something, I just want to know " what he downloaded " and " why was he sued " and is their a new copyright law or something?

These are existing copyright laws, people are getting fed up with having their material stolen and taking action. Considering the US Supreme Court has now indicted several 12 year olds with fines being discussed up to $150,000 US for downloading, is it worth the risk? Also the European Courts have similar cases under review.

the kid was sued for downloading the new Kanye West album and he is from Indianpolis. He's only 15. Kanye's lawyer personally sent him an email asking him to stop but the kid downloaded all of Kanye's albums. And that's not all, he downloaded the new 50 cent, Young Jeezy, R. Kelley. The kid is in lots of trouble. It's not legal to download ANYTHING from ANYWHERE! Get real.

probably downloading songs and having a shared music library.

he was probably sued for download music or software illegally (a non free program being downloaded for free). If you download it in bulk you can be sued for a good bit. For every act of copyright infringement dealing with music you can be fined around $3000.

No it's not a new law it has always been illegal to download music and software for free, if it isn't free in stores.
