Question:

Man with anorexia!! i need help! any advice?

ok, so i am an 18 year old male, and i have anorexia. i need to recover because i am going on a mission, and inorder to do that i need to be in tip top shape! the problem is that i get worried about the unexpected! i eat a little bit for breakfast, average about 300 calories! then for lunch i do about the same! so that leaves me with like 1200-1400 for dinner! i have in my mind 1800 as my goal, but i know that is the minimum! how can i still be okay to eat at night, but get to my goal!?

any suggestions!

    Educated persons have decided what a healthy amout is to eat.

    Go to http://www.mypyramid.gov/ , or another site that can help you know what is healthy for you to eat at your age and activity level. Be honest! Print out your guidlines, and tape it inside the cover of a notebook. Each day, start a new page and make sure you exactly fufill those guidlines. Make sure you have an accurate set of measuring cups and spoons, and possibly a food scale. To eat the right amounts, use package guidlines, or for unpackaged food (such as fruits) go to nutritionaldata.com and search it, this site is very specific and helpful! If you are eating exactly what you should, then you will know you are eating in a healthy manner and you should not worry about anything else!

    I too had anorexia, terrible thing. Like most people i kept it quiet. I realised that was a stupid thing to do. I talked to my Doctor, he gave me a number of a shrink. This was in november last year. I have been fine and healthy since then, it was REALLY had in the beginning. I got through it, with help of mates and my shrink. I am now normal weight and i feel amazing.

    if you have anorexia, yes, the first thing you should do as they suggested is probably to see a physician first :)

    besides that

    a good way to increase hunger for me as well as other people, is simply to exercise more, expending energy, to want to acquire more energy

    start drinking more water

    and take up intense cardio - jog/swim/bike anything really

    heck, you can also buy yourself some light weights and do some toning at home (like 10lb dumbbells or what not)

    get your physical condition up the natural way, and in turn you will feel the need to eat more as you get sore/tired

    that is what I think would be a great solution for you, aside from seeing a doctor

  6. anorexia is not usually something that you will be able to cure on your own. it isn't always about food, that's why the people need a lot of counselling to overcome the problem. sometimes a doctor will want you in the hospital in order to monitor you. go and see what your doctor says, and find out what he has in mind to try and get you healthy again. i sure hope you give him a chance to help you. good luck.
