What do you believe to be the five most significant trends to affect the management of businesses and the work of supervisors over the past 100 years? What evidence do you have that makes you choose these trends and issues.

Computers changed the way we work, how we work and how much each person could do. It also shrank the work force and lowered the value of the worker as compared to inflation.

The internet created instant communication, web conferences and shortened sales cycles.  A whole new commerce with companies like e-bay, amazon and yahoo etc.

Defining our customers as something other than main street even in small towns, little antique shops doing business with folks in France changed how we do business today.

Outsourcing became a blessing and a course at the same time. Cheap labor when there was none, then to save cost then to cripple companies.

Finally women in the work place, when the dynamic in WWII changed and women went into the work place, the necessity for all of the above was born.  We needed all those things to keep all the people employed to do the American dream after the troops came back.
