Manager Jim Tracy appreciates Eric Young Jr. for his tremendous recent plays – MLB News
Colorado Rockies left-fielder Eric Young Jr. is currently playing his best game since 2009 when he joined the franchise.
Though mid-season break has begun, but Eric was exceptional on Sunday when he finished his first half of the season on a high note.
He proved wonderful in the Rockies’ comeback win against the Washington Nationals. The Rockies were trailing behind in the seventh but Eric’s powerful performance earned him a great victory for his team.
The entire management was happy on his performance while the team manager Jim Tracy looked quite confident on Eric Young Jr. contribution which gave the Rockies a healthy win.
Tracy also spoke to the media and made some stirring comments on his left fielder’s performance and said, "You cannot do Eric Young's role any better than he's done it, He has come up big in so many situations.”
Later in the game Young said, “Dex told me, 'He's got a good pitch outside, so look for something inside, So I said 'OK.' And that's what I got, a fastball inside. And as soon as I got back to Dexter, he said, 'Not a bad scouting report. Especially at this
level, I'm not sure how many opportunities I'll get, so I try to take advantage of every one. Pinch-running, pinch-hitting, defense, it doesn't matter, I try to make the most of it."
At the end of first half of the season, Young achieved balanced stats. He batted with hitting average of .253 along with a homer, four RBIs and .347 OBP.
His three years in Major League Baseball has also proved wonderful. His game from an average player to a well balance role player is also an appreciating factor.
According to many experts, Young has now established his game and in the coming days, he will prove more useful to the Rockies.
Rockies on the other hand, with the likes of Young and some senior players’ performances, have finished fifth in National League West. However, their last series win against the Washington Nationals certainly suggests that they will come with more thrust
in the second half of the season.
