Manager Terry Francona praises Dustin Pedroia in form developing spring role
The Boston Red Sox are gaining momentum in the Spring Training schedule in Fort Myers, Florida. The club has a good number of stars coming in to the roster. Among them is Dustin Pedroia, a man making his return to form, following his rehabilitation programme
for his surgically-repaired left foot.
Manager Terry Francona is all praise for his star second baseman, who has been taking active part in games throughout the season. The Red Sox are faring well in the Grapefruit League and Pedroia is using his foot more in the recent days.
Talking about the situation, Francona conveyed positive feedback to reporters in his recent interview.
"I think he's done terrific," Francona said. "He goes 100 miles an hour all the time. I think he's done great. Every morning, I'm the one who hits ground balls to him, so I know how he's feeling. He's been good about communicating. He's not hitting 1.000,
so he's not happy. But he's done really well."
It’s nevertheless plausible to see that Dustin Pedroia has his health where he thinks it should be. He’s confident about his form and that has kept him aggressive on the plate and on the field. Francona told the press that Pedroia was an emotional competitor
who could not see himself going out, even in Spring Training. He went on to say that the player sat at the clubhouse for two innings, feeling really upset over his ouster.
The skipper surmised that that was something that made Pedroia tick.
Francona went on to tell the press about Pedroia’s speedy recovery in the Spring Training tenure. He commented on the player’s hitting quality in the recent games.
"I can see that offensively. I was actually encouraged the other day to see his bat speed getting a little bit better," Francona said. "He swung at a high fastball probably out of the zone and rifled it to right field. Two days before, he had swung at that
same pitch and missed it."
