Manager looking for a race seat for Lotus Renault’s Vitaly Petrov for 2012 season – Formula 1
Lotus Renault GP’s Vitaly Petrov’s manager Oksana Kosaczenko recently told the media that she is eager to sign her driver for a race seat for the 2012 season with one of the Formula 1 teams.
She claims that she is already negotiating with some for a possible deal, despite the fact that her driver is already with the Lotus Renault GP team.
“We are talking with sponsors and negotiating with teams. Life does not end after the 2012 season,” she said.
Petrov is definitely a good Formula 1 driver and he has been producing some pretty good results for his team since he joined them. He has proved that he is in the sport to score some serious points and at the first race of the 2011 Formula 1 season, the
Russian driver also secured his career’s first podium position.
Nevertheless, it is believed that Vitaly does have a contract with Lotus Renault GP until 2012 but since Robert Kubica might return with the team once again for the next season, there are rumours that the team might let the young Russian go.
He secured his race seat at Renault mainly because of his performance during the 2010 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix which was the grand finale of the season. Petrov played a major role in that race and held Fernando Alonso behind him for around 40 laps of the race.
Alonso was competing for the championship in that race and it was one of the most important races of his career which was ruined by the Renault driver.
Sebastian Vettel won the race and the Spaniard was unable to finish in the minimum required position for the 2010 championship which was the 5th place.
Soon after that race, Renault announced that they will keep both Robert Kubica and Vitaly Petrov for the 2011 Formula 1 season and also announced that they signed a contract with the Russian driver which was valid until the 2012 season.
Petrov has been performing really well this season as well as he is currently in 9th place with 31 points just 3 points behind his current teammate Nick Heidfeld who replaced Kubica for the 2011 Formula 1 season.
