Manager of Michael Schumacher Sabine Kehm says he is still passionate about Formula 1
The seven-time former world champion Michael Schumacher’s manager Sabine Kehm has recently slammed reports that the 42-year-old is thinking of retiring by the end of the 2011 Formula 1 season.
She claims that the Mercedes GP driver is still very motivated and passionate about the sport and his team and is going to try his best to make them a top running team in 2012.
Reports were released by an Italian sports website which claimed that Schumacher feels as if he was a ‘burden’ for Mercedes GP and since he has not been able to achieve the goals he had set for himself and his team after his return, he is considering leaving
the team in 2012.
“Since his return to F1, Michael has not spoken with anyone from the Corriere dello Sport. He is full of passion for the cause and continues to see the task of build something big at Mercedes as an exciting challenge,” she said.
One has to admit that the German driver has not been able to perform up to the mark for the team as he is constantly being defeated by his teammate Nico Rosberg since the 2010 Formula 1 season on almost regular basis.
The team is still a mid-running team in the 2011 Formula 1 season and it seems that they have improved little enough to make a mark statistically in the top running teams of the sport.
Either way, Schumacher is still willing to stay with the team according to Kehm.
“The fact that sometimes it doesn't work only spurs him on. Someone who will soon celebrate their 20th anniversary in Formula One knows that perseverance can make a difference,” she added.
The team is currently in 4th place in the constructors’ standings and they are looking much faster than Lotus Renault GP who are currently their closest competitors. Mercedes GP are currently the fastest mid-running team of the sport but this
is nowhere near the performance they wanted to achieve in 2011.
They are hoping for better results in 2012 and in order to ensure that, they have already started working on their new car.
