Managers make their comments known as rain looms over Busch Stadium for Game 6
The Texas Rangers benefitted from the rain in playoff encounters before the World Series kicked off. Heading on to Game 1 of the tournament, the club lost its chance to go on top of the table at the Busch Stadium in St. Louis as the squad lost out due to
the rain and the St. Louis Cardinals 3 – 2 score line. Now there is a rain forecast for Game 6 and both club’s managers made their opinion known to the press on Tuesday, October 25.
Texas Manager Ron Washington passed his opinion, claiming that he would rather want to wait for the game to be shifted to the next day.
"If it's possible we can play, of course we want to play. You don't want to sit down. We're here to play baseball. But if the forecast says that it's going to be bad weather and we're going to play and start and stop, I'd rather not."
The decision however lies with the Major League Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig. He and his team of MLB representatives will discuss the matter and announce soon on what would be done if rain becomes a certainty on Wednesday, October 26. St. Louis Cardinals
manager Tony La Russa believes that the decision is not going to be made by the teams so why should they ponder over whether the squads should play or not.
"What I've learned over the years, if your opinion isn't asked, don't bother thinking about it. If they say play, we'll play. They'll definitely keep us abreast whether it's us or the Texas Rangers. MLB puts all the factors into it and we'll certainly be
thinking about it from the St. Louis Cardinals point of view."
The Cards are currently trailing the Texas Rangers, 3 – 2, and they need two straight wins to get the World Series title under their belt. The Texas pitching rotation however is looking crisp and if the Cards do not get the right momentum against them, they
might be out of the competition by the end of Game 6.
However things are looking good for the club. The rain forecast puts them at an advantage as the stadium happens to be their home ground for the encounter.
