Managing Director of Yamaha Lin Jarvis says Valentino Rossi can add a lot to the sport – MotoGP news
Lin Jarvis managing director of Yamaha Factory Racing believes that Valentino Rossi can bring a lot to the sport in the next 2013 season.
He said that Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo will be treated equally, however the development will lead by Lorenzo and the supporting role will be taken by Rossi.
The managing director also unveiled the fact that the Italian Rider contacted the team first.
Jarvis said about Rossi, “He did great things for Yamaha and can still bring a lot to the team but also to the sport in general.”
This is a fact that the team Yamaha still views Lorenzo as their winning driver.
Rossi has received both types of opinions, in his favour and against him. Casey Stoner of Repsol Honda, who won a championship with Ducati in 2007, is of the view that the problem lies with the rider.
Loris Capirossi, who was also riding the same bike as Stoner, believes that the problem lies with the bike and not with the rider. He says that the team must consider the comments of the rider rather than, only taking technical data into account.
Ducati is also facing different views from riders as well. They have signed a contract with Andrea Dovizioso for the next 2013 season to replace Rossi. He commented that he cannot say anything about Ducati until he tries it for himself.
Rossi has only been able to make it to the podium twice in his career with Ducati, both times at France Grand Prix. He has always been ending the grands prix at random positions in the last two seasons.
It is expected that Rossi will be able to get back to his performance and the confidence he had as a champion, in the following 2013 season. He has already proven himself with Honda as well.
It has not yet been decided whether his crew will accompany him to Yamaha or not, but his advisor, David Brivio, said that the decision he made is risky because he believes that Ducati could be a winning project.
Rossi could only make it to the 7th position in championship of 2011 which is the worst standing of his MotoGP career.
