Question:

Managing for a boys volleyball team?

Okay well me and two of my friends tried out for the girls volleyball team and didn't make it. All the manager spots for the girls team were already taken. I found out the other day that the boys volleyball team is looking for managers. We'll get to practice with the team and go to games and all, but just keep score and cheer on the team during games. They both said they want to be managers with me, but I don't know if I want to.

I am auditioning for the fall play next week. I REALLY want to do the play, but I don't think I'll get a part because it's really competitive at my school. Should I just sign up for a manager spot with my friends so that I'll at least have something to do if I don't make the play? I really love volleyball, but I don't know what to do.

Any other girls been a manager for a boys team? What did you like about it? Anything you didn't like? Did people laugh at you or did you ever get embarrassed (silly question, but just asking)?

Thanks in advance!

  1. I would talk to the boy's coach and tell them that you want to be a manager for the team, but you might have to quit if you get the part in the play.  If you are up front with the coach, you will save problems.

Since you will be practicing with the boy's team, you will be improving your chances of making the girl's team next year.  You will be practicing with a coach.  It will be good for you to keep playing.

  2. Well I am a girl and never managed for a boys team...but i have a good friend that's a boy and manages our girls team...he loves it and we all love having him with us! He is funny and can pump us up no matter how bad we are losing! And i think you should do it if you have guy friends on the team...but if you like football better don't do it! Idk what grade your in but if your in high school you likely have less than 4 years so i wouldn't do something just cuz my friends want me to, but on the flip side you might want to spend all the time with your friends as possible...its kinda a football vs. volleyball thing. But as for your play....i would audition and still manage because like you said there is a chance you wont get it....and if you do get in the play just explain to the coach your dilemma with managing the team. I hope i helped!

  3. i dont feel like reading ur book, but i would give it a shot.  good luck and have fun playing :D
